Bride Story

Nessa Florendo

Days Hotel - Tagaytay

Tagaytay City, Philippines

Our Bridal collaboration with Nessa was a significant one because she was your designer's first-ever Bridal Beauty in yours truly's professional fashion designing career. She was also in fact recommended by our best friend Jyn who eventually became our Bride four years after. Nessa and her family including her fiance and his family are all based in Vancouver, Canada. They came home to the Philippines one-time in order to align themselves with the necessary preparations of their wedding. Our best friend Jyn called this designer to meet up with her friend Nessa who is to be married soon as she is also scouting for a designer to work on her wedding gown. We met at Starbucks in Greenbelt 3 and to make the long story short, yours truly became Nessa's official designer after a few hours of brainstorming. Yours truly was fortunate to be chosen considering that Nessa also went around to other designers who can actually do her wedding gown. I don't know what made her changed her mind to select us however she was indeed a blessing for our brand as she just made our Bridal business official.

I can remember clearly what she wanted. She wanted a gown that was hourglass in shape, with fine asymmetrical lines in the body of the dress with layers and layers of bias cut strips made of organza around the skirt. This designer was scared because to tell you the truth, that time, we were also transitioning in getting a better set of production workers who can translate our designs well and we were keen at entering the Bridal business so having a very skilled production team was very important. With courage, we moved forward with this dream project and everything fell into place eventually as we found an excellent team of production workers who are still LASALA's main production team for it's several brands for 6 years now. As much as this project with Nessa was exciting, it was also very challenging because right after we met, she already left for Vancouver and pretty much entrusted the entire process of her wedding gown's production to us. Furthermore, the communication was coursed through emails and Facebook during the entire duration of the project. There were fittings in between as we sent the dress to Vancouver for her to initially try the dress on and was sent back for repairs with her new measurements. Nessa was kind and responsible enough to maintain her figure, in fact, she even lost a lot of weight (due to stress maybe) weeks before the wedding day. Come final fitting, the dress fitted her perfectly and the design was exactly the way she wanted.

Her wedding was simple and beautiful. It was celebrated in a venue that had the Taal Volcano as the view with the cool breeze of Tagaytay City  and an afternoon fog that enveloped us which contributed a lot to the romantic mood of the ceremony. It was a Christian ceremony and Nessa was surrounded by her closest friends and family. Her wedding was nothing but romantic and intimate and the way she treated her suppliers was undeniably very professional. She treated this designer, and her other suppliers like a family and even provided us with a room to stay for us to enjoy a night in Tagaytay so that we could be with her for a night cap (just to shake off some jitters) hours before the wedding. Had it been our way, we could have stayed and enjoyed Tagaytay however, the demands of work came in so abruptly that we had to leave for Manila even before the day of the wedding ended.

This designer could not have any words and cherish the very good memories with our experience with Nessa. For us, our project with her was a breakthrough as it was the first for our company in everything as she was our first Bride, first overseas client, and the inaugural project with our new production team who did an amazing job with Nessa's wedding gown and is still doing an amazing job to our Bridal gowns even up to this day. Nessa and her husband Ingmar is currently based in Vancouver and are both blessed to have a son. This designer can only wish them nothing but a life of abundance.
