Norren and this designer go a long way back since kindergarten. We were classmates and schoolmates from then until we finished high school. Norren was a swimmer and a member of the varsity team. She is someone that you will never see in fancy dresses and often times she is a wallflower with her small group of friends sharing their assignment at the benches in school. She is also an achiever as she has competed at the different national tournaments where she represented our school and brought home a lot of medals. Her summers and after classes are spent on training which explains her very beautiful tanned skin and athletic build. Norren pursued nursing when we all left for college. We lost touch but she was quietly following this designer online. She would often like and comment on this designer's photos just to keep us both posted on each other's lives. Until then, she decided to move abroad to pursue her nursing career in the Middle East and it was evident in her face that she was happy with her chosen career path especially that it has improved the lives of those around her including her family.
A little more than a year ago, Norren reached out to me through Facebook and slightly mentioned that she was getting married. She was still very unsure of the date and the rest of the details except that she wanted this designer to create her dream wedding dress. She discussed with us her vision and it was something that we have never done before. The dress was easy to construct in the sense that this designer already figured out how to interpret the design but the details of the gown were very challenging. There was not one lace in sight but rather vast amounts of beads and rhinestones scattered on the four-layer tiered ball gown which started from the neckline down to the last hemline of the skirt's fourth layer. The gown took more than 900-hours to finish together with the embellishments as not one visible space was left uncovered with rhinestones and beads.
Our Bride who was still in the Middle East that time only saw the magic unfolding on her dress online and it was truly evident in her eyes how happy she was that her vision is now turning into a reality. Furthermore, her heart was overflowing with joy when she got to fit her dream wedding gown a few months after. Fast-forward to her wedding which was so intimate with a very short reception program made me realize that the purpose of weddings is for the families to be brought together to celebrate the union of two people. Her husband, also a very simple man was just perfect for the type of girl like Norren and yours truly is happy for both of them.
We learned so much from the process as a team while working on Norren's gown. Her vision was not only meaningful to her but to us as well as whatever we learned from it bore fruit in the next coming months in an event that shaped this designer's career and his team into a brighter future. This designer can only wish Norren and her husband a beautiful married life where the Lord will bring them.
